The first project that DDDC created was Family Camps. ( HoH is the third project) The first ever camp was to Burrendong Dam, Wellington in 2000
Why have camps and excursions? Children that have hearing loss miss out on so many incidental everyday experiences that we often take for granted. DDDC recognises the importance of providing as many opportunities as we can to help increase a child's confidence, social skills and vocab by providing experiences that all family members can enjoy. Often the other siblings miss out as the family are so busy dealing with their child's hearing loss. What could be better than to have camps with like minded people!
